Bobby Taylor who is well known within the fan community for discovering the Jackson 5 has passed away this Saturday (22/07/2017) in Hong Kong where he lived.
Bobby Taylor & the Vancouvers were a band signed to Motown and once on tour in 1968, the group took a local family band in their Chicago dates, the band was of course the Jackson 5 who were the opening act. Impressed with the group, Bobby personally took them to Detroit’s Motown offices and arranged an Audition with Suzanne de Passe and the boys were signed to the label a year later! The rest is just History!
Bobby became the group first producer and supervised the first album “Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5”. The group was later moved to California, Bobby was left out of any credits for finding the group until later.
