MJ Chart Data Week of July 25, 2020.

As the saying goes, classic never goes out of style. In the case of Michael Jackson, he also never goes off the charts.

Today I want to show you how Michaels albums perform on an average day on iTunes & it’s incredible!

Number Ones is charting Top 100 in 62 countries & Top 10 in 5 countries.

The Essential Michael Jackson is charting Top 100 in 9 countries.

Xscape is charting Top 100 in 10 countries and Top 10 in 2.

Thriller is Top 100 in 4 countries.

HIStory & Dangerous are both charting Top 100 in 3 countries.

When I first tweeted the overall stream numbers for all Michael Jackson solo albums on Spotify (most streamed to least streamed) Twitter lost their minds to see that MICHAEL album had more streams than Invincible, & Xscape album had more than HIStory.

Well.. thats still the case 2 months later and here’s how it goes:

I’d like to start with the bad news & I’m going to give it to you straight. #1Billion4MJ (campaign to get Billie Jean to 1 billion views for MJs birthday) is not happening BUT that doesn’t mean we should give up because Billie Jean daily stream numbers are still impressive. Not to mention it has gained over 82 million views this year only!

This is what the past 24 hours views look like:

Smooth Criminal – 555,387 views

Billie Jean – 515,435 views

Beat It – 366,175 views

They Don’t Care About Us – 357,284 views

There are the short films that are currently charting on “YouTubes most viewed videos daily”.

Weirdly, Smooth Criminal has been the biggest daily gainer lately.

As we’re more than halfway into 2020, I thought I’d share the overall stats too. Bear in mind these are rough numbers and could/will be higher tomorrow.

Heres top 10 gainers this year:

Billie Jean – 82 million views.

Smooth Criminal 82 million views.

They Don’t Care About Us – 56 million views

Beat It – 50 million views.

Thriller – 34 million views.

Remember the Time – 31 million views.

Earth Song – 26 million views.

Bad (short version) – 24 million views.

Black or White – 22 million views.

You Are Not Alone – 22 million views.

This week on “UK Official Albums Chart Top 100”, Number Ones drops 4 spots and it’s currently on #44. This album also jumped 1 spot on “UK Official Albums Streaming Chart Top 100”, and it holds the #28 spot this week.

The Essential Michael Jackson holds #121 spot (126 last week) & Thriller dropped 5 spots and it’s currently on #153.

Extras:

Billie Jean has surpassed 700 million streams on Spotify this week.

Today in 1992, Who Is It peaked #10 in the UK & spent 7 weeks on the char. Song also peaked Top 10 in 8 countries.
