We are all growing old, on a yearly basis [in case you didn’t know] and there is nothing we can do about it. We often see young fans or middle-age fans as social media is pretty easy to understand for us. But we often forget that in our community, there are fans of all age who their love and passion for Michael are as strong as ours!
I often imagine how my passion will be when I am 60/70/80 years old; Will I be still posting articles on MJVibe or organising fan events? Will I be still active in the fan community or still enjoying Michael, my way? Well, Clovis Durieux gave me that answer!
Clovis is a 60 years old fan from Henin-Beaumont in the North of France. Clovis survived 3 cancers, a stroke and meningitis but yet, his love for Michael is as strong as ever.
Clovis loves to dress-up as Michael and he doesn’t care anymore of what people think about him and his passion.
He told a local news-paper that he was in a night-club in the North of France in 1982 and “Thriller” played, this is the moment his passion for Michael was born!
40 years later, he moved back to his hometown where he goes by all dressed-up as Michael. He said throughout his fandom, people mocked him and laughed at him but since he moved back at Henin-Beaumont, people are very happy to have him there and became a local celebrity. He owns so many costumes that he can go to his daily bakery trip in a different outfit for the week.
But his fandom doesn’t stop there! Michael’s music and videos play all the time at his home and he is also participating to charity events, local events and during lockdown, he went to dance in the street to entertain his neighbours. He also started his music career. That’s right! He just released a song called “Viens donc dans ma ville” [“Come to my town”] to promote his little hometown.
As a true Michael Jackson Fan he did a music video… Oups sorry, a Short Film!
Clovis just showed us that we can not only be a Michael Jackson fan past 60 but also we can give back to people with fun and entertainment, just like Michael keeps entertaining us! Thank you Clovis and keep going!
