Originally called “Moonwalkers”, the director Tristan Anderson just announced that his documentary “The Three Michaels” will be premiered on November 13 at the Stratford East Picturehouse at 6pm.
The documentary took over 4 years in the making and follows a group of 3 impersonators from early street performances to the following in their idol’s footsteps as they embark on a road trip to Hollywood to get noticed, find an agent, get paid and make friends with the rich and famous and looks at their lives, their motivations and ambitions.
Chavail 24, Quintin 28 and Malachi 29 are three Michael Jackson tribute artists from small towns on the west coast of America filmed on their journey to Hollywood.
Tristan Anderson is a BAFTA and Webby Award winner director and funnily enough, he came to assess the fans at Kingvention in London.
I saw few scenes from the documentary few years ago. At the time, I felt that what I saw was not so much glamourous for those three impersonators. However, not sure if the director took into consideration the fans’ feedbacks on that day and modify the final documentary, it is now going out in the world so we shall see.
“As a director I wanted to capture this journey with them, where you felt you were going along for the ride, feeling the highs and the lows as one of the team. It became the perfect window to observe how fame pushes people to improbable lengths.”
They can try and I mean try but they will never be the real. Real. Michael Jackson he has a walk a talk a dance that everyone think they can do but the real man is in heaven
It’s amazing how many people the Michael has inspired. Some impersonators look like him, sound like him, or dance like him. I’ve never met one that could do all 3. It will be interesting to see how MJ the Musical will do.i wish these fellas well.
