Since 2019, NASA have been asking, us humans, to select songs for astronauts to listen to for a very special mission.
As NASA celebrates the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, they are also preparing to go back to the Moon by 2024, which means astronauts will have a non-stop journey of approximately 3 days each way – the ultimate long-distance travel. Just like any road trip needs a soundtrack, so does a spaceflight!
So fans have been submitting their choices and no “Scared of the Moon” (Only songs published on official music streaming services at the time of the acceptance period have be added to the playlist) is not in but a significant Michael Jackson song made it to the 186 track-list: At #48, “Billie Jean” is there!
“Billie Jean” is perfect for the list as during Motown 25, Michael performed the iconic Moonwalk for the first time when he performed the song on the anniversary show.
The playlist is available on Spotify via NASA’s Third Rock Radio:
The playlist will be played to the astronauts for their 3 days journey to the moon in 2024!
