The fans in Chile got a late Thriller 40 Fan Party but it seems it was more fun that other parties back in November 17… only joking as the saga of disasters continue with the promotion of Thriller 40.
Javier RodrÃguez from the Michael Jackson Chile Foundation went and reviewed this Chilian party organised by Sony Music Chile. And here his review:
First of all, the party was an event organised by Sony Music Chile and Rock and Pop (one of the most important radio stations in our country). That was on November 29th at 7:30pm at the “NODO HOTEL”, Providencia, Santiago de Chile.
The place was very small like 6 meters x 10 meters.
They had a big banner with the Thriller 40 album cover, a 360 camera to take videos, a radio station banner and only 1 50″ Smart TV and only 1 speaker.
Michael Jackson was playing from the beginning to the end, the party ended around 10pm.
At 8:30pm a person from the radio station started talking in front of the TV about the new and unreleased video that we had never seen before, we were very excited about this amazing news. He thanked Sony Music for the opportunity to see this video exclusively at this event…. And the video was….. “Thriller” and “Beat It” in 4k. (He claimed that the videos had not yet been released anywhere, and that it was a first. Clearly he didn’t know what he was talking about). and the reaction of the attendees was one big disappointment, I imagine we all thought we would actually see something unreleased and exclusive from Sony.
At the time of the countdown, the presenter announced “Thriller” and the video appeared and it was “Beat It” so the fans started to correct her that it was “Beat It” with laughter. Additionally, when the video starts there is no audio, so they stopped the video and we had to wait for them to fix it. The first video was Beat it, and immediately after the end Thriller started with audio problems again, so we had to wait AGAIN for them to fix it. While they were trying to fix the audio problem, they started raffling off 6 Thriller 40 vinyl records. 4 of them were a lottery for the winning tickets on the radio and fan club and the last 2 records were given to people who knew how to dance to Thriller. Only 2 people knew the choreography and I was one of them.
