Since Michael Jackson passed away in June 2009, fans in Munich Germany have been paying tribute to the King of Pop at the statue of Renaissance composer Orlando di Lasso in the city center.
But the site came with a lot of troubles.
First in 2015 when two fan groups were disputing over who is in charge of the shrine, involving the police and the city council.
And because of this petty drama, the local authority decided to clean the statue and ban the tribute to Michael Jackson in 2016.
The site was completely cleaned in 2020 by local authorities.
But it seems that since COVID restrictions have ended, fans have been back to the di Lasso’s statue and covered the statue with posters and items again, tolerated by the local authorities.
Last Monday, a passerby called the police at around midnight to report a 57 years old woman who was aggressively removing the shrine. The police arrested the woman and evaluate the damages to €100. It is unknown if the woman is an actual fan from one the rival MJ groups or a hater.
