Of course there is a Pizza World Championship in Italy! And this is not only judged on making pizza! That’s right! One of the category is “Freestyle”, a spectacular acrobatic show using dough pizza disks to music rhythm.
This year competition took place in Parma, Italy on April 18, 19 & 20.
During the Freestyle competition, 22 years old Nicola Matarazzo, former 2022 World Champion, got 2nd place with an impressive set.
What is this to do with Michael Jackson you may ask? Simple, Nicola entered the competition on the sound of “Carmina Burana”, wearing a black cloak like in “GHOSTS” or “Remember The Time” style. He then revealed his full outfit composed of a black shirt with Rhinestones, a black trousers with Rhinestones stripes and a half-facemask covered again with Rhinestones.
Pretty MJ-like if you ask me! And it was confirmed that Michael Jackson was the inspiration behind the outfit.
Nicola told the local press: “The outfit created by designer Brenda Ponde consisted of black trousers full of Michael Jackson rhinestones, a very elegant shirt full of glitter and a custom-made mask on my face, a full breathtaking costume to leave everyone speechless.”
So either the designer is a Michael Jackson fan or Nicola himself!
Who knew that Michael Jackson will inspire a Pizza World Champion! Hopefully next time we will see Nicola throwing pizza dough on Michael’s music!
Watch Nicola do his thing below and again congrats on his second place!
