Ray J was on the ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast yesterday and he shared some stories about meeting Michael Jackson.
For those who do not know Ray J, he his a R&B singer and actor who has 5 albums and featured in over a dozen movies. But you might know him for being Brandy’s little brother.
During the podcast, he shared with presenter Shannon Sharpe his memory of the King of Pop.
“If it wasn’t for Brandy, Michael would have left me hanging. My hand was out there for 10 minutes. He’s in another row. He already said, ‘What’s up?’ to Brandy, but he didn’t see my hand, and a lot of people behind me could just see my hand out there,” he recalled.
As he was about to accept defeat in getting noticed by Michael at the time, his sister called MJ, and he finally noticed him.
“Oh, hey Ray,” MJ said, per his recollection.
“It was just like that. That would have been catastrophic. I’m saying, little stuff like that, it’s unforgettable.”
Asked about the type of person Michael was like, Ray said:
As he was about to accept defeat in getting noticed by the “Billie Jean” artist at the time, his sister called MJ, and he finally noticed him.
“[He was] chill, man. He was super cool,” he said, adding that the late singer had “got the world” and “got character.”
Ray also shared the first time his sister met Michael.
“When Brandy first met Mike, she fainted on the ground. And he’s like, ‘Oh, that’s so sweet.’ He didn’t help her up. I helped her up, but he’s probably used to it,” he recalled.
To recall, Ray J has been defending Michael since 2013 against the allegations and in multiple interviews, he said that he used to hang out with Michael when he was a kid and swore that “the singer never acted inappropriately” toward him.
