I cannot tell you how much I screamed when I saw the trailer for the new Star Wars series called “Skeleton Crew” which will be on Disney+ on December 3 this winter.
And boy I will be on my screen for this as in the following trailer, you can see a very familiar character from Star Wars universe: FUZZBALL.
That’s right! Fuzzball is to return to screen and it is unknown if this is a prequel or sequel of “Captain EO” or if it is THE Captain EO’s Fuzzball… We will have to wait December 3 to find out!
Here the Trailer which was revealed this week-end at D23:
And for those who missed it here a photo of Fuzzball in the new Skeleton Crew:
Shame that John Branca fell out with Disney as we could have had Michael or Captain EO mentioned or even making a SGI appearance! Damn you Branca!
UPDATE 11/08/2024:
I am seeing many fans speculating about Skeleton Crew being a prequel of Captain EO. Looking deeper into the casts and names of the characters, this is unfortunately not correct. I know there are similarities but here the names of each characters:
Captain EO | Skeleton Crew |
Captain EO | Wim |
Hooter | Neel |
Major Domo | SM-33 |
I know, they look very similar but Star Wars like consistency in everything they do. So for now, Fuzzball is the only one to be a full confirmed representation. However, with Disney not being in good terms with John Branca, they might have changed the characters names and look and finally taking back Captain EO.
Now, from the Star Wars Book VI: The Third Shadow, Captain EO married the supreme Leader and got 3 daughters and a son. It might be that story that Disney would like to convene making it a sequel:
Many fans are also surprised and asked the question “Is Captain EO part of the Star Wars universe?”. Well the answer is yes, it has been yes since the beginning of the release of the film in Disney parks in 1986. I have spoken about this many times on MJVibe.

At D23, an actor appeared wearing a Captain EO t-shirt. Hudson Thames, who voices Spider-Man in the TV series Avengers: Quantum Encounter, took the stage proudly sporting EO’s colors! Coincidence? With Disney, it never is!
I saw Captain EO at Disneyland Paris and it was brilliant. I’d love to see it on general release with extra unseen footage. The 3D effects were great with fuzzball flying out of the screen and people trying to catch him. Great film. If they offer the estate enough money I’m sure this can be sorted out.

No huge profit, no deal.
No party for the fans.
It’s great news but I need to points out The “Supernatural Encounters” book was never published by Lucasfilm, it was made available by his author years later on his own web site (and updated/expanded with a lot of new material not even related to SW or Lucasfilm).

Do you have a source for Captain EO being SW canon since its release?
