Since 2019, we’ve been reminded that facts matter and that we should uphold them. But it seems the Michael Jackson Estate hasn’t quite gotten the memo.
The Estate struggles to keep fans engaged, especially on social media. With no new music releases, their focus has shifted to MJ The Musical and sharing trivia online—often with mixed results.
When those “facts” turn out to be wrong (yet again), fans are quick to call them out!
This isn’t the first time the Estate has made social media blunders. From posting incorrect information to sharing poorly photoshopped images or even spotlighting impersonators, they’ve had their fair share of missteps.
Recently, they posted a photo of Michael Jackson with FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, supposedly from Jackson’s Dubai visit. However, there was an issue with the caption.
Michael Jackson first visited Bahrain before heading to Dubai, where he met the future FIA President. The Instagram post’s caption read: “This week in 2005, Michael visited Dubai, the largest city in the United Arab Emirates. He is seen here with Formula One champion-winning driver Mohammed Ben Sulayem.”
The nostalgic throwback had a glaring error: Ben Sulayem was never an F1 world champion, nor did he ever drive an F1 car.
Ben Sulayem was a rally champion, with 61 international wins and 14 championships, primarily in the Middle East, driving for Ford and Toyota. However, his involvement in F1 came only after becoming FIA President in 2022.
Fans quickly noticed the mistake and turned it into a running joke online. At this point, all you can do is laugh!
