Earth Song: More than ever the message needs to be heard!

VARIOUS

With the recent event in Zimbabwe and the unnecessary killing of Cecil the Lion, MJVibe feel the need to share the message that only Michael Jackson put into a song. Cecil is not the only one to be killed without any reasons. Millions of animals are killed yearly only for the human’s sport of hunting which is clearly not a purpose in this modern days! With the planet holding over 9bn humans by 2050, it is our mission to preserve what our planet has created! Some animals are in the verge of extinction like the white rhino or some elephants. African elephants are endangered and it’s possible that in 5 years they will be extinct completely. Humans are killing them to supply illegal ivory to markets throughout the world. As many as 50,000 elephants are being killed yearly! They aren’t the only animals on the endangered species list due to poachers. Rhinos, Leopards, Tigers, Lions, Bluefin Tuna, Salamanders and Sharks are all being threatened by it!

Poaching isn’t the only man-made cause of extinction! The global climate change is continuing to threaten the world’s animals: CO2 increase due to human activities! The list of endangered animals is so long going from the Koalas, Penguins, Bats, Foxes, Clownfish, Whales, Turtles to Salmon!

We need to act now before it is too late and the outrage of the world on Cecil’s killing is just a start! It is up to us to make a change!

“I remember writing ‘Earth Song’ when I was in Austria, in a hotel. And I was feeling so much pain and so much suffering of the plight of the Planet Earth. And for me, this is Earth’s Song, because I think nature is trying so hard to compensate for man’s mismanagement of the Earth. And with the ecological unbalance going on, and a lot of the problems in the environment, I think earth feels the pain, and she has wounds, and it’s about some of the joys of the planet as well. But this is my chance to pretty much let people hear the voice of the planet. And this is ‘Earth Song.’ And that’s what inspired it. And it just suddenly dropped into my lap when I was on tour in Austria.” – Michael Jackson.

Not only the song ‘EARTH SONG’ was a huge success in the late 90s but Michael tried to bring back the message for his ‘THIS IS IT’ London concerts.

“I respect the secrets and magic of nature. That’s why it makes me so angry when I see these things that are happening, that every second, I hear, the size of a football field is torn down in the Amazon. I mean, that kind of stuff really bothers me. That’s why I write these kinds of songs, you know. It gives some sense of awareness and awakening and hope to people. I love the Planet, I love the trees. I have this thing for trees – the colors and changing of leaves. I love it. I respect those kind of things. I really feel that nature is trying so hard to compensate for man’s mismanagement of the planet. Because the planet is sick, like a fever. If we don’t fix it now, it’s at the point of no return. This is our last chance to fix this problem that we have, where it’s like a runway train. And the times has come, This Is It. People are always saying: ‘They’ll take care of it. The government’ll–Don’t worry, they’ll–‘ ‘They’ who? It starts with us. It’s us. Or else it’ll never be done… We have four years to get it right. After that it would be irreversible. Let’s take care of the planet.”

big_1328011668_6756215What about sunrise
What about rain
What about all the things that you said
We were to gain
What about killing fields
Is there a time
What about all the things
That you said were yours and mine
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we’ve shed before
Did you ever stop to notice
This crying Earth, these weeping shores
Ah, ooh
Ah, ooh
What have we done to the world
Look what we’ve done
What about all the peace
That you pledge your only son
What about flowering fields
Is there a time
What about all the dreams
That you said was yours and mine
Did you ever stop to notice
All the children dead from war
Did you ever stop to notice
This crying earth, these weeping shores
Ah, ooh
Ah, ooh
I used to dream
I used to glance beyond the stars
Now I don’t know where we are
Although I know we’ve drifted far
Ah, ooh
Ah, ooh
Ah, ooh
Ah, ooh
Hey, what about yesterday
(What about us)
What about the seas
(What about us)
The heavens are falling down
(What about us)
I can’t even breathe
(What about us)
What about apathy
(What about us)
Burnt despite our pleas
(What about us)
What about the holy land
(What about it)
Torn apart by creed
(What about us)
Where did we go wrong
(Oo, oo)
Someone tell me why
(What about us)
What about babies
(What about it)
What about the days
(What about us)
What about all their joy
Do we give a damn

  1. A great, and timely article. Earth Song is probably Michael’s most important message song. Yet it gets little airplay on mainstream radio. People need to hear it, listen to the words, watch the powerful filmclip, and think about what Michael is saying. In the Latin ‘Unity’ album version (which I love, by the way) India even sings “we have to listen to the words of the song”. It’s all there. All we have to do is listen to it, heed it, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

  2. I completely agree with Kerry’s sentiments 100%!
Michael truly, genuinely, deeply cared for the planet and it’s entity. He didn’t play around the subject or fear speaking on behalf of the planet… This is the time that we must stand up/rise to the ocassion. I feel like we are just standing by and time is clearly running out. I hope that we can make a change, big or small, which should be now. Thank you MJVibe. Thank you Michael.
