A BATHING APE® announces its collaboration with Michael Jackson, the “King of Pop™”.
The collection will be available from October 28, 2023, at authorized A BATHING APE® stores and WEB STORE.
So far we know of 3 T-shirts (coming in Black and White versions), 2 sweaters (Also coming in Black and White versions) and one letterman jacket. Prices are not known yet but A Bathing Ape T-shirt goes for £95 minimum, £959 for a jacket and £300 for a sweater.
Not only the prices are extortionate but am I the only one thinking there is something odd, associating an Ape with Michael Jackson??
The only nice touch is the armband in my opinion as for the design is somewhat… patchy!

I can speak some Japanese and I have Japanese friends. I have researched about the expression “A Bathing Ape” (which is a literal translation of the original Japanese expression) and I can assure you that it does not have any kind of negative connotation (nor is it racist, since it has its origin in Japan and it is an expression that is said among Japanese people).
Thank you for the explanation. However, it is still doesn’t mean that the rest of the world can be offended by this. The Estate should have carefully think before selling image rights to any company. Just a food for thoughts.
