A brand-new documentary about Michael Jackson is reportedly in the works, set to premiere either later this year or early next year. This time, the project will be aired on BBC—widely regarded as a more credible platform compared to Channel 4’s previous controversial and trashy take.
The yet-to-be-titled documentary promises an in-depth exploration of Michael Jackson’s extraordinary life, legendary career, and the controversies that surrounded him.
Produced by 72 Films, the company behind critically acclaimed documentaries like Mozart: Rise of a Genius, John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial, and The Zelensky Story, this latest project is expected to offer a well-rounded perspective on one of music’s most influential figures.
A source close to BBC stated: “This documentary isn’t designed to be a hit piece or a glowing tribute—it aims to provide a balanced and comprehensive look at Michael Jackson. The team behind it has a track record of deep investigative storytelling, making this one of the most highly anticipated Jackson biographies to date.”
We have reached out to 72 Films for more details and will share updates as soon as they become available. Stay tuned!
I’m not too optimistic about this thing. Whenever “outsiders” tried to make a documentary about MJ it either turned to be hit piece or some superficial botched job.
