Billy Butcherson from Hocus Pocus was inspired by Michael Jackson

Halloween is around the corner and with the second chapter coming soon of HOCUS POCUS (FINNALY), more stories are coming out about the 1993 movie directed by Kenny Ortega (Yes, the same Kenny that directed the Dangerous World Tour, HIStory World Tour and THIS IS IT).

One of those story is about the character Billy Butcherson played by actor Doug Jones.

During an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Doug recalled that the character and costume were inspired by Michael Jackson: “The uniform kind of outfit, with epaulets on the shoulders… as he was incredibly popular at the time”.

Not to mention that a year before, Kenny worked with Michael Jackson to create the “Dangerous World Tour” which included a spooky section.

“I think he had a very sexy look to him, and that was pretty much thanks to the design of the costuming, the wig with the rockstar hair, and the bone structure of the prosthetic dead guy skin that was put on me, was really nice and sharp and angular,” says Jones. “He was kind of pretty.”
