Billy Porter, American Actor mostly known for his role in the Netflix Series ‘Pose’ and his latest movie ‘Cinderella’ and Lang Lang, the famous Chinese Classical Pianist, payed tribute to Michael Jackson during the Global Citizen Live Concerts.
Porter and Lang were on Stage live in New York City.
Porter introduced Lang Lang with an eulogy to ‘We Are The World’ and Michael Jackson.
“On January 21, 1985. 39 of the World biggest musical personalities gathered at ANM Studios following the American Music Awards to record a song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. That would become the most successful charitable record in history. Both artists, not only had careers filled with filling thropics support both public and private, including Michael’s recognition by the Guinness book for his support of the most charities but ‘We Are The World’ has raised over $63 million for ‘USA for Africa’ in the 36 years since its release.”
The Lang Lang played a piano version of the song joined by a young choir.
While Lang and the choir performed the famous song, video of the original recording session including Michael Jackson were played on stage.
