Happy birthday, M.J.: On Friday, you’ll have the opportunity to celebrate what would have been Michael Jackson’s 56th birthday, Oakland-style. The festivities will begin at 7 p.m. at Sweet Bar Bakery, where Mani Niall, M.J.’s former personal chef, will present one of Jackson’s favorite meals, New Mexican Smoky Red Chili Platter. Niall will follow that up with one of Jackson’s favorite desserts.
After the meal, head to The New Parkway Theater, just down the street, to watch a 9:30 p.m. screening of the Jackson documentary, “This Is It.” Other surprises are in store — past celebrations have included “Thriller” flash mobs — but you’ll have to buy a ticket ($35) to find out what.
