“Sneakerella” is a musical comedy film from Disney+ re-imagining the classic fairy tale “Cinderella” telling the story of a young boy living in Queens who works in his late mother’s old shoe store Laces and who dreams of making his own sneakers.
But even more, in the opening sequence called “Kicks”, there are a lot of nods to Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean, from the dance choreography to the camera emphasis on the footwear.
We get the pavement shots, the street light shots, the fire escape stairs shots, the toes, the finger pointing, the slides… All is there in a modern version and it’s pretty cool!
