HULL, England; A local community group called “Ghost Estate Compass” created a little fun activity which locals took to heart: “Scarecrow Walk”.
While on Lock down, people can go around the Estate and look at the scarecrows in the front gardens of those participating; getting your daily walk and social distancing.
Mr & Mrs Sayner decided to go with Michael Jackson’s thriller scarecrow and while they were very proud of it and also see the smiles on so many people and children when passing by, one individual was not so happy and called the police about it!
And yes, the police turned up and asked the removal of the scarecrow!
Mrs Sayner told the officers that if the colour of the face used was the issue, they could redo it but the officers told her that the issue was the figure they had chosen to depict.
It is unclear if a fan was offended by the design of the scarecrow (ok, this is not the best MJ representation ever but it is a scarecrow after all!) or a Michael Jackson hater wanted this down for un-researched opinion. What is clear is that this individual just wasted Police time and upset the couple who were proud to entertain their community and especially the children.
Stephen and Teresa Sayner replaced Michael with the Village People doing YMCA. Hoping that will not offend anyone!
Stephen and Teresa, we loved it! Thank you for entertaining your community in Hull during COVID-19!
