A shopping Center in Tacaruna in Brazil will hold a Michael Jackson sculpture exhibition until April 13. The exhibition named “Step by Step: Tribute to the King of Pop is set of 40 pieces in cold porcelain created by artist and fan of the singer Selmo Wander.
The sculptures depict with great realism the singer throughout his career reproducing some of the pop singer’s iconic moments. This includes a life size Michael Jackson which is the main attraction.
Selmo is an avid Michael Jackson fan and after the passing of his idol, he started to create those sculptures and for the first time being exhibited publicly.
Graphic designer and artist Selmo Wander , responsible for the works , says that everything is a hobby. The artist takes his first exposure to other Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro as well. “My project is to make a tour of Brazil showing this work,” he points out.
“When he died, it was very difficult for me and at first I decided to do a piece as a tribute and eventually wanted to expose them.”
The work depicting the singer in real size was the most time consuming to carve: six months were needed to finish it. In the case of miniatures, the most difficult to fabricate was the golden and silver clothes worn by Michael in the HIStory tour.
Interest in buying the parts from the fans also increases, but Selmo said that if someone wants to order some copies they should contact him through his personal Facebook profile!
So if you are in Brazil, don’t forget to pop in the shopping Center!
Here some of the sculpture you will see at the exhibition:
This man is so incredibly talented it takes my breath away. These works of art belong in a museum. The figures are so incredibly realistic and capture him in motion. No detail is overlooked, be it hair, face, arm movement or dance. I simply am stunned by the beauty of the pieces.
I agree.
