In 2011, Funko released 5 Michael Jackson figures under Bravado’s licensing deal with the Michael Jackson Estate. The deal was only for 2 years which Funko obliged and those little figurines are now very sought after in the fan community.
In 2020, the Estate found out that the company was still using Michael Jackson imagery on their company website so the attorneys for the Estate noticed Funko.
It seems that all have been patched up between the two as our source in Funko told us in 2022 that a new series of Michael Jackson figurines was in the work.
We were hoping that this new series will be released with the 40th Anniversary of “Thriller” but this did not happen.
Today our source told us that the series was supposed to be released in March 2023 but has now been pushed to September 2023.
However, we have been told that the series will have 4 new figures:
2 will be part of the new design series “Funko Pop! Album”. This series of Funko recreate an artist album cover with the figurine in front of the album cover, pausing in the same way.

The two Michael Jackson albums that have been selected are “Thriller” and “Bad”. The two other ones will be the traditional Funko Pop!, Michael at the Superbowl and Michael in his iconic pause Toes standing.
As we know, The Estate is not good at keeping schedules (i.g.: the Thriller Documentary supposedly released in January 2023) so this delay might extend over September 2023. Also we did not see the approved designs yet but we will keep you posted.

Dangerous and HIStory from the 90s were also a huge success. Albums, world tours, etc.
