Sounds a bit weird but a church in Germany will do a Michael Jackson service on Sunday 29 October. The Church of the Holy Spirit in Heidelberg, Germany will start the “Michael Jackson Service” at 11am.
They have describe the service as follow:
“Michael Jackson, the King Of Pop, his music, his torn life and the suspicion of abuse as well as the religious references in his hits will be the focus of the pop service on Sunday, October 29 at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Spirit on Heidelberg’s market square. In the service entitled “Heal The World”, a band will play instead of the organ: Tine Wiechmann (vocal) and the band “Enaim” will play hits by Michael Jackson, the wheelchair group “Rhythm on wheels” will dance, and city pastor Vincenzo Petracca will interpret the songs. After the service, there will be a follow-up discussion. Pre-registration for the service is not required.
The King Of Pop is a charismatic artist who broke down stylistic barriers. He is a multi-genius: singer, performer, author, film producer, manager, inventor of the “moonwalk” dance step. Eccentric, he looks like an extraterrestrial fictional figure. The real person, on the other hand, is an ambivalent personality. Michael Jackson is one of the biggest global superstars and at the same time an erratic being with mental instability. His life story is determined by the meteoric rise and from unreached heights to the abrupt crash triggered by suspicion of abuse. Nevertheless, he is one of the most influential pop musicians ever. What is often overlooked: his religious roots and references. In the Michael Jackson service, all of this is explored.”
Interesting choice and not sure we should link Michael Jackson to any religious group or discussion but if you want more information, visit their WEBSITE and FACEBOOK event page
