Two Stars at the Guide Michelin, French Chef Jean-François Piège recently did an interview on French radio RTL and talked about his career.
At one point, he was working at Hotel De Crillon in Paris, a key moment of his career as a renown chef and how he served food to the biggest stars in the world.
Including Michael Jackson! He told Bruno Guillon, the Radio presenter for “Le Bon Dimanche” show:
“At the time I was chef at Crillon. There was a global artist who came to spend some time there, who showed on the balcony from time to time. It was Michael Jackson. And I liked, at the Crillon, in the cooking that I was doing at the time, to bring the popular in this palace […]. I made viennois. And he, who was a big child, at reception we had given him these little viennois. When he tasted them, he found it so crazy that he stayed several more days to eat them.” If Michael Jackson was won over by the chef’s dessert, the latter unfortunately never had the chance to meet the artist. “I never saw him, I was just making the chocolate cream.”
Here the part of the interview where Jean-Francois Piège talks about that moment:
