Late Pop Superstar Michael Jackson Once Gave Lance Bass The Silent Treatment For A Year Following An Argument.
The Billie Jean hitmaker was close with Bass and his ‘N SYNC bandmates and the musicians would often perform together, but when Bass had to leave a Jackson benefit concert early in 2001 to attend a movie premiere in New York, he upset the King of Pop.
“We became pretty close with him,” he told the Meredith Vieira Show on Monday (01Feb16). “It was right after 9/11; we were doing this big concert. We were in Washington, D.C. at RFK stadium, we were doing a concert for 9/11 and Joe (bandmate Fatone) and I had to fly to New York because we had done a movie and we were going to the premiere and it was the first premiere in New York City after 9/11, so we felt like we really needed to go there.
“He (Jackson) wanted everyone to come at the and of the show and hit the stage and do some song… and I told him we had to go and he got really upset and he said, ‘No you can’t leave’.
“I said, ‘We have to, we have a premiere…,’ and he said, ‘But Lance, it’s for the children,’ and I started laughing thinking it was a joke because it was so cliche of him to say that, but no. He didn’t talk to me for a year after that… He called me a year later like nothing had happened…”
