It’s been 7 years since the death of pop star Michael Jackson but his fans haven’t forgotten about him, of course. They continue to visit his childhood home in Gary, Indiana. The two-bedroom house at 2300 Jackson Street has become a tourist attraction, particularly after Jackson’s sudden death at the age of 50. The Mayor of Gary, Karen Freeman-Wilson says the Jackson Street of Dreams project is buying the house next door and turning it into a small museum shop. The mayor also says: “We are exploring the next steps to see who may be willing to fund rehabbing some other homes.”
Mayor Freeman-Wilson will be featured on an episode of Undercover Boss (December 21) which airs Wednesdays at 8pm and 9pm on CBS. Or you can learn more about Freeman-Wilson in the Chicago Tonight interview below. It’s from 2012, when she became the first female African-American mayor in the state of Indiana.
