Sony Music: “There are a few gems out there that we may unearth individually over the next months and years”
It has been revealed that Michael Jackson estate co-executor John McClain is “reworking a batch of tracks alongside a high-profile producer the estate wants to keep secret for a one-off release,” as the Los Angeles Times reports.
According to Sony Music CEO Rob Stringer, “We’re constantly scouring the catalog for ideas, but there are no plans at the moment to put any more full-fledged albums out… We are looking at one-off songs, and in this streaming world that works because it’s a track-based world. There are a few gems out there that we may unearth individually over the next months and years, but we’re also very, very careful to make sure the fan base doesn’t feel like they’ve been asked yet again to buy material they have.”
The most recent posthumous Michael Jackson studio album, Xscape, was released in 2014. A Halloween-themed compilation of old songs, Scream, came out last year.
An appeals court recently ruled in favor of Sony and the Jackson estate in a long-standing class action suit brought against them by a fan. Vera Sapova asserted in the 2014 suit that the music conglomerate should be held liable for allegedly releasing three “fake” Michael Jackson songs on the 2010 album Michael. Judges ruled that there was no way of Sony or the estate of knowing for certain whether the recordings were “fake” and exempted them from the suit.

Das klingt fantastisch endlich können wir wieder zu unrealeased songs kommen ich finde es eine fantastische Idee Songs einzeln aufzudecken weil sie dan von allen mehr wertgeschätzt und wahrgenommen werden großartig
