The Official R&B Music Hall of Fame Museum is recognized as the one and only official institution that honors and memorializes the accomplishments of the many individuals and organizations that have contributed to the Rhythm and Blues genre. Our collection of artifacts and other objects of historical importance will be available for public viewing through permanent and temporary exhibits.
The Museum’s purpose is to collect, preserve, exhibit, and educate about the various aspects of the world of Rhythm and Blues Music. Artifacts and materials that we have collected and are collecting, are not only owned by the museum but are also borrowed and created for the various displays.
On August 17, 2013 at Cleveland State University in Ohio, many Detroiters and Motown alumni were inducted into the R&BHOF freshman class such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Dramatics, and Jackie Wilson to name a few.
This year’s induction ceremony will be held August 24, in Canton, OH at the Canton Palace Theater, and will include Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, B.B. King, The Whispers, The Funk Brothers, The Sweet Inspiration, Marvin Gaye, Chubby Checker, Norm N. Nite, Deon Dantes, The Delfonics and Gene Chandler.
Confirmed attendees (among others) are Duke Fakir (The Four Tops), Kim Weston, Cissy Houston, Martha Reeves, Joe Jackson, and the families of Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke, and David Ruffin.
