Michael Jackson’s BAD Era Glove on Auction

An iconic white glove worn by Michael Jackson during the Bad era is going under the hammer. It is expected to raise up to £200,000 at an auction.

This right-handed glove, covered on the back with Swarovski Lochrosen stones, is being sold as part of a celebrity memorabilia haul in the US.

The King of Pop is said to have worn it while promoting the best-selling album Bad, which was released in 1987. The glove shows wear from where the singer would hold a microphone during his performances, according to auctioneers the Memorabilia Network.

“A right-handed glove custom designed and made by Hollywood fashion designer Bill Whitten. The glove was stage worn by Michael Jackson and attributed to being from the era of the 1980s after Jackson released his album Bad. Covering the entirety of the backside of the glove are Swarovski lochrosen crystals. The palm side of the cotton glove is bare, with the exception of a velcro closure that has been placed over the original snap button closure of the glove. The glove does show use and wear, with some dark marks on the palm side of the glove on the index finger and thumb, consistent with the pressure points where Jackson would have held his microphone when in his right hand. One of the most iconic items in music and popular culture history, Jackson’s gloves became almost as famous as Jackson himself. The Bad tour was Jackson’s first solo concert tour. It lasted 16 months from 1987 to 1989, and included 123 concerts for over 4 million fans across 15 countries.”

The Auction’s bids will take place from October 24 and close on November 6 at The Memorabilia Network
