This has been confirmed this morning, McDonald Head Office has decided to remove the Michael Jackson HIstory Statue which was used in 1995 to promote Michael’s album “HIStory”.
Last month, we heard that McDonald was questioning the fact that the Statue was on the Restaurant site and it seems, despite the protests, the facts sent to the company and the owner of the franchise, the decision was made!
The owner of the franchise was not in agreement with the Head Office but had to comply and the statue has now been removed from the restaurant’s car park.
The decision has been taken by McDonald after the so called documentary “Leaving Neverland” has aired in the country.
“We think it is important that all guests feel confortable when visiting our restaurants. The image of Michael Jackson can evoke an unpleasant feeling amoung our guests. We are a family restaurant” says McDonalds Spokesperson Eunice Koekkoek.
A new location for the statue has to be decided.
This is a sad day for all the fans in the Netherlands as they have used the statue as a meeting place for events, birthdays and tributes.
It is said that the statue and all the items within the restaurant were donated to the Dutch Michael Jackson fan Club.

Moonwalkers don’t lament this.
MJ lives on. He doesn’t deserve to be glorified in an outdoor statue that most likely can’t be kept clean, (birds pass stool etc.) Cleanliness is next to Godliness, and besides the atrocities of killing innocent creatures so people can satisfy the tongue is something MJ wasn’t hep on. Here’s some other international statues dear friends.

Just saying….not all that glitters is gold.
I was in NL last November but didn’t manage to go there. Now i regret it my whole life. I hope Dutch Fans Club will find a more proper place. Like you said, MJ deserve better place than stupid lame burger place
I’ve heard German fans want to take this statue. Is it truth?
McDonalds needs to be challenged on this decision considering the local owner was OK with the statue being there. It probably means a lot less visitors for him (thank the Maker I visited a couple of years ago!) But I feel for the fans who made the Best statue their memorial gathering place. It was a true MJ pilgrimage site.
This is an email address for questions for McDonald’s management in the Netherlands from the media. Might be worth sending an email. pers@nl.mcd.com
I’m so sick of hearing these thing. He was acquitted, what happened to innocent till proven guilty.

My tweet to @McDonalds – Open letter to McDonalds Management in The Netherlands Read: http://tl.gd/n_1sqrp3d [this is a copy of the email I sent to McDonalds management in the Netherlands, with a copy to Michael’s estate]
Wow this one sided unproven hit piece is really causing a lot of damage.
Response to my email, which uses the same wording as in the aricle above… seems that the decision has been made to avoid families feeling ‘uncomfortable’ – does that mean no-one had complained, but they were taking pre-emptive action just in case! Stinks! Text of the response I received follows:
Dear Ms Hennigan,
Thank you very much for your message. We appreciate your point of view on our decision to remove the Michael Jackson statue in Best. We would like to emphasize, however, that our decision does not represent a vote for guilty or not guilty. We have made the decision to remove the statue purely because of the fact that we are a family restaurant and want all our guests to feel good and welcome in our restaurants. Some guests may feel uncomfortable about the statue in light of the documentary Leaving Neverland. This decision was made in close consultation with and support from the local franchisee. The statue will be donated to the Dutch Michael Jackson fan club. They will give it a new home so fans can keep visiting the statue.
Kind regards,
Eunice Koekkoek
