Michael Jackson’s “She’s Out of My Life” Video Receives an Upgrade

The Estate of Michael Jackson and Sony have officially completed their mission to enhance the visual catalog of Michael’s Off The Wall era. Following the updates of “Rock With You” and “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” the final video from the era, “She’s Out of My Life,” has now been upscaled for modern audiences.

Released as the fourth single from Off The Wall in 1980, “She’s Out of My Life” marked a poignant departure from the dance-heavy hits that preceded it. The song, written by Tom Bahler, is a heart-wrenching ballad that showcases Michael Jackson’s emotional depth and vocal range. The track became a standout moment in his career, peaking at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning Michael the distinction of being the first solo artist to have four top-ten hits from a single album.

The accompanying video for “She’s Out of My Life” is simple yet powerful, featuring a close-up shot of Michael sitting on a stool as he delivers the song with raw vulnerability. The stripped-down nature of the video perfectly complements the song’s emotional weight, famously concluding with a tearful moment that underscored Jackson’s deep connection to the material.

Now, the Estate and Sony have worked to bring a refreshed version of the video to fans. While the original source material limits the ability to achieve true 4K quality, the upscaled version offers noticeable improvements in clarity and color, allowing viewers to better appreciate the intimate details of Michael Jackson’s performance.

Hopefully the Estate will continue to upgrade material and hopefully using better technology to 4K all the more recent videos from the Dangerous, HIStory and Invincible era.
