When it comes to a Michael Jackson release, London has always enjoyed playing its part in the global excitement, therefore the release of Xscape was no exception!
MJVibe approached the legendary music retailer HMV to team up for the 12th May release date. They were thrilled with our offer of a pair of free postcards to the first 200 customers who purchased the album. In addition, they would play the new Michael album ALL DAY! (what could be better).
Armed with a 6ft banner of the album cover, The MJVibe team arrived at HMV at 7:30am to set up. We’d offered 3 FREE official Michael Jackson t-shirts to the first 3 people in the queue! Naturally, a group of fans were waiting outside for the opening. MJVibe had sought the talents of impersonator David Boakes to give the passing public a reason to stop and learn about the album and together we gave away from stickers and flyers to the public to let them know that new music from the King of Pop was inches away!
Through-out the morning, it was clear the deluxe edition was proving the most popular, outselling the standard edition 3 to 1. This only added to the electric atmosphere; that and the fact that famous London busses passed HMV every 3 minutes displaying an advert for Xscape.
Fans and public alike came through-out the day to pick up their album and free postcards and HMV expressed that the album was selling better than any other album that day!
