MOTOWN THE MUSICAL EXTENDS LONDON RUN

6700

Ain’t No Mountain High enough to stop Motown The Musical’s conquest of London’s West End. The hit show has extended its run to 28 October 2017 and released 350,000 new tickets.

In addition to today’s extension news, actor Obioma Ugoala has said I’ll Be There to producers; he’ll be taking over the role of Smokey Robinson from 4 July.

Tweeting about the announcement, he said:

Originally a hit on Broadway, Motown The Musical tells the story of Berry Gordy who borrowed $800 from his family to found Motown, the record label that launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and many more.

Featuring more than 50 of the labels hits – including Stop! In The Name Of Love, My Girl, What’s Going On? and I Heard It Through The Grapevine – the hugely popular show has had audiences Dancing In The Streets since it opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre on 11 February.

Ugoala, who boasts a host of credits with the Royal Shakespeare Company, joins a cast that includes Cedric Neal as Berry Gordy, Lucy St. Louis as Diana Ross and Sifiso Mazibuko as Marvin Gaye.
