Munich fans in Germany will have to say goodbye to their shrine on the base of the Statue of composer Orlando di Lasso in the Promenade Square; which is located directly opposite of the hotel where Michael Jackson use to stay.
Since 2009, German fans came to the statue to pay their respect to the King of pop by sticking posters, photos, poems to the base of the famous composer. However, some disputes between fans [as per our article back in July 2015] put lights on the memorial and the real purpose of the statue. A legal action has been taken and the government of Upper Bavaria has decided to clean the statue starting in July. The whole statue will be scaffolded and restored.
In the mean time, the local government has already been in touch with the fan club called “MJ ‘s Legacy Association International” to put in place a discussion on how the fans could pay tribute to the king of pop after they’ve let fans maintain their tribute without official permission.
The restoration of the statue will take a long time and it seems unlikely for the shrine to come back once the statue and its base have been restored and cleaned.
