What a mess! I am sure I am not the only one to feel disappointed by the release of THRILLER 3D in IMAX!
After the announcement from John Branca at the Diamond Celebration in Las Vegas on August 29, saying that THRILLER 3D will come to the cinemas worldwide before the movie “The House with a Clock in its Walls”, Fans around the world got exited (and even some of us bought tickets for the movie hoping to see THRILLER in 3D).
But it seems IMAX got mixed up! For sure, they announced that the short film will be only played in selected IMAX Cinemas, we all hoped to see this WORLDWIDE and not restricted to just few countries! And even more, to see those IMAX in big cities to play the legendary zombie music video that the world love so much and not weird locations!
At first, IMAX was really vague on the locations and then the mess arrived with announcing cinemas which when contacted, told us they are not playing Thriller at all!
It’s a bit of a disappointment while we are glad some of us fans will be able to enjoy Michael on a massive IMAX screen, it is not what we expected!
Even in the States, the list of IMAX Cinemas playing the Short film is limited considering the number of IMAX cinemas there!
Nevertheless, IMAX has been really bad with their communication to the public. When we contacted The Michael Jackson Estate about the situation, we have been told that IMAX is the decision maker on where THRILLER will be screened! When we contacted IMAX, that was a bit of a maybe/maybe not situation and it is a shame to see a big company like IMAX to fail such a historical moment and their customers!
Not sure the Estate of Michael Jackson knew how messy this would have been and even stepped in few days ago to through back the ball to IMAX.
