Pepsi is celebrating its 125 anniversary of its creation. As part of a marketing campaign called “PEPSI125”, the cola company teamed up with MTV and will return some iconic ad spots during the MTV Video Music Awards on September 12 at 8pm ET/PT.
As part of the promotion of the event, Pepsi will play back some of its most legendary commercials with stars and they have released a series of imagery containing Robert Palmer, Britney Spears, Ray Charles, Tina Turner and Madonna.
But where is Michael Jackson?
The fans have been bombarding the brand asking just that!
Especially Michael Jackson has been a key star for Pepsi for two decades and even had campaigns after his passing in 2012.
- 1983: New Generation
- 1984: Convention
- 1988: Chase
- 1991: Dreams
- 1993: I’ll Be There
- 2012: Live for now – A release of new Michael Jackson branded cans from Pepsi
And Michael Jackson fans have been taking the omission very seriously to the point they have been writing letters and emails to fizzy drink company and call for a boycott of the brand!
MUSIC ICONS ONLY 👏👏👏 Cheers to some of the most legendary Pepsi commercials and the stars that made them possible! #PEPSI125

As we know MTV has been trying to erase Michael Jackson from its history since 2019 and while we can hope that the MJ commercials will be present at the event, it is with very little hope that will happen.
Meanwhile, the Estate was serving Pepsi at their Michael Jackson Sapphire Immersive experience not knowing that the brand will turn its back on Michael!
We have contacted the Estate of Michael Jackson for comment.
