As announced on February 12, Quincy Jones was supposed to do a concert at the O2, London, celebrating Michael Jackson by playing the 3 albums he worked on with Michael: “Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad”.
This one-off show at The O2 on Sunday 23 June would have see all three records performed back to back by a symphony orchestra – conducted by Jules Buckley and Quincy himself – accompanied by an array of special guests to be announced.
However on Friday night, the advertising have started to change on websites and social medias and renamed: “Soundtracks from the 80s” and the set list has nothing to do with the first advertised concert:
Setlist
Rock With You
Off The Wall
Burn This Disco Out
Thiller
Baby Be Mine
P.Y.T
Human Nature
Man In The Mirror
Give Me The Night
The Dude
Betcha Wouldn’t Hurt Me
Ai No Corrida
Yah Mo Be Here
Razzamatazz
Baby Come To Me
One Hundred Ways
Just Once
Stomp
While the set list includes few of Michael’s hits, this is not what has been promised to the fans or what people have paid for.
We have been in touch with AXS, the company in charge of ticket sales and they have confirmed to us that the promoter SENBLA has not confirmed anything to AXS to notify any ticket holders.
Many fans have contacted us to check what’s happening and how they can ask for a refund.
As you may know, this is wrongly advertising and against the advertising regulations and standards and if you do wish to have a refund, you should be entitled to one. However, AXS cannot refund anyone until the promoter SENBLA says so.
While some fans are worried this is to do with “Leaving Neverland”, it seems more likely that it is due to licensing issues. As you can see in the set list, the MJ songs present there are not the ones written by Michael Jackson and made us think that Quincy Jones and the promoter SENBLA did not have licensing to play Michael Jackson’ songs.
We have also contacted the Estate of Michael Jackson to confirm if there is an issue with the licensing but we have yet to receive an answer.
Quincy Jones and The Estate have not been in good terms since “This is it” and Quincy has also made few inappropriate comments about Michael in the last few years which might explain why the license was refused (if this is the case).
No matter, the promoter and Quincy should have had all in place before announcing, promoting and selling tickets for a concert as this is not false advertising!
Until SENBLA announcement, we recommend that you contact AXS and the O2 for any update and also give your feedback on that matter.
Here the original promotion for the Quincy Jones event:
I remember thinking something was up when I first saw the advertisement as they weren’t using the albums official logos!!
It put me off purchasing a ticket and now it makes me sad that this has happened 😔
We have sent e-mails to the O2 and AXS/Ticketmaster, but finally senbla.com is said to be responsible but no answer yet.
You wrote SEMBLA but the correct is senbla 🙂
Thanks for the article!!!
Well, well, well – from the man dissed the idea of “contracts” with the court in his claim for royalties from the Estate, we now have a concert that (possibly) was organised without licensing permission secured. Other orchestras/performers manage to do entire shows, orchestral or whatever, of MJ albums with no licensing infringement, so what is it with Q’s show? And why wasn’t that sorted before it was promoted and the tickets put on sale? I feel sorry for the fans who paid money for something they aren’t getting.
Michael Jackson don’t need Quincy Jones to sell anything Michael has a fan Base that extends several Generations don’t get it twisted Q say what you will about Michael at the end of the day We the Fan’s got Michael keep your name off anything that has to do with Michael who are you separating the men from the msic
Now one company will put the blame to the other. I don’t see why customers should contact SENBLA. I assume most of us went to O2 website that listed the event as Off the wall, thriller and bad. Then O2 sent us to either AXS or perhaps some to ticketmaster to handle ticket sales. Therefore as customers our contact was with these two/three companies. I guess none of us visited SENBLA. There are physical ads outside the O2, even up to yesterday at least, that still advertised the original event. They don’t bare responsibility for the fake advertisements ?
Because one blame the other both O2 and AXS/Ticketmaster sent us to Senbla IF WE WANT TO take this issue further (if it is a question, for me absolutely not!!!!)
Senbla doesen’t even answer!!!!!
They try to get away with it not to say anything and pretend nothing has changed. That is how they want us to attend the show and than who cares what will be there. They will have the money…disgusting behaviour ðŸ˜
This is what my sister has just got from senbla on messenger:
“Dead Szilvia, we have seen your email and various messages. We will come back to you shortly.”
This is feedback I just received after chasing AXS:
thank you for contacting AXS.
This is the information that we have received from the promoters, Senbla. Any further complaints regarding the show would have to go through them since we are selling the tickets on behalf of the promoters.
We would recommend that you contact Senbla regarding this.
Should you wish to take this further, you are well within your rights to do so.
Kind regards,
Moa
Contact Centre Assistant – AXS UK
I replied to saying my contract is with AXS, not with the promoter, so waiting to hear back. I also emailed info@senbla.com and waiting for a reply too. They cannot get away with this!
We are in contact with Senbla for days try to reach them as many platform we can.
Today my sister got an “answer” on messenger what I have ro tipe in because I can not attatche picture.
Read this:
Dear Szilvia, the show’s content has not changed. Songs from the three Michael Jackson albums will.be played at the O2 concert on Sunday, June 23 2019, alongside tracks which celebrate era-defining music
This is BS for sure, so my sis wrote back them a hard-core letter (…) what I can not tipe in and the answer was:
Dear Szilvia, there will be many more than six tracks from across the tree albums performed
BS after BS but we are still waitting for answers…
I also contacted Senbla and received the following reply:
“Hi, the show’s content has not changed. Songs from the three Michael Jackson albums will be played at the O2 concert on Sunday, June 23 2019, alongside tracks which celebrate era-defining music. Therefore, we are unable to offer refunds”.
Unable or unwilling to? We all know the truth of this matter and we know we were all missold these tickets. We bought tickets for what was advertised as Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad albums back to back. Not a couple of songs here and a couple there to act as some kind of loophole to wriggle through. We definitely didn’t purchase tickets to hear far less celebrated works. We paid for expensive tickets to hear three multiple platinum awarded albums from an era millions of us grew up hearing in awe of the majesty of Michael Jackson’s incredible musicality. I also had huge respect for Quincy but something’s happened here we aren’t being told the truth about. In fact we’ve been told nothing and it’s just by chance that we are all finding out the game they’ve played in us.
You are absolutely right!!!
Of course unwilling!!! BS after BS!!!
This is disgusting and unacceptable.
We go further for sure, that is what ALL OF US should do, I suggest!!!
This is the latest comment I had received from AXS:
Unfortunately we are unable to escalate this matter any further for you to change the outcome from our current position. If you still want to take this further then we are members of STAR (The Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers), the self-regulatory body for the entertainment ticket industry, and they are able to look into your complaint in line with their dispute resolution procedures for complaints against members.
STAR can be contacted at:
PO Box 708
St Leonard’s Place
York
YO1 0GT
Telephone: 01904 234737 (or +44 1904 234737 if calling from outside the UK)
email: info@star.org.uk website: http://www.star.org.uk or use their online complaint form.
I have contacted the STAR regulator and they are looking into this. If you purchased your tickets via AXS I would recommend taking the same approach.
This is not right at all!

Has anyone on here seen the posts on Quincy Jones Twitter page? There seem to be hundreds of us who aren’t happy. Surely someone comes from a legal background. This sounds like a class action lawsuit to me but need numbers and process to follow to initiate it.
Thank you for the info.
Also, MJVIBE, where was the non MJ setlist published that includes the song titles: Give Me The Night, The Dude, Betcha Wouldn’t Hurt Me, Ai No Corrida, Yah Mo Be Here, Razzamatazz
Baby Come To Me, One Hundred Ways, Just Once, Stomp. I can’t find this anymore.
I’m outraged. Bought these tickets in good faith on the strength of back to back performances of Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad. I’ve already tried contacting O2 who are towing the “nothing has changed line”
We/I have been mislead. I only bought the tickets because it said back to back MJ albums. Wasn’t interested in anything else.
I will be hounding O2, Senbla and AXS for refund. Surely they cannot get away with this. I bought 4 tickets as well.
They clearly think they can get away with this. My feeling is that Senbla have deliberately NOT changed the poster on their website meanwhile the version 2 poster published after we’ve all bought tickets and which we were not informed about has been put up on the third party sites that sell the tickets on behalf of Senbla so as to dodge the blame meanwhile Senbla claim the ad hasn’t changed and it hasn’t (on their website) so unless I’m mistaken it looks like an attempt at using a loophole to try to avoid litigation. Gotta remember the companies will have legal teams advising them on how to handle all of this and how to exploit any loopholes they can find. Now the message is “songs from the three albums will be played”… Yes Senbla but not FULL albums back to back which was advertised at the time of purchase. Now, I’m a very reasonable man, as I’m sure we all are in this thread, but one thing I really don’t like is BS and being conned. Especially when it comes to big companies that have a reputation to uphold and that can very easily afford to reimburse customers they have missold tickets to ten times over without even noticing. All they needed to do at the beginning was to contact us and say ya know what it turns out we cant give you what we originally advertised. (For whatever reason we are not being told). We’ve changed the ad and we’d love you to still come but if you don’t want to anymore we understand so we are offering full refunds and a voucher off your next booking.
That is how customers should be treated by companies that would like to stay in business.
But no, they’ve chosen to treat us like mugs. We need the media to update the news reports on this outrageous greed and disrespect to MJ and his fans, surely the law must protect us here. I will actively avoid booking any event associated with Senbla in future, and one things for sure, I bet Quincy and team are really excited about the show now as much as we are. We expect a full symphony orchestra… or is that also going to change at the last minute?
TOTALLY AGREED!!
It is all about treatment!!!
Even if they are in quiet we all know what is this all about…
A few words from Senbla, O2, Quincy to the fans would do and we were all feel different and no longer angry that much as we are now.
I think this is the main problem with all this… making fools of us…
Guys please if you booked your tickets through Axs then divert your complaints via http://www.star.org.uk. They are a dispute organisation. They can hopefully give us a voice. Spread the word.. I don’t have access to twitter, can someone please let the followers know too?
I sent Star my evidence, but the more cases the stronger the case
We wrote to Star, posted the link on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram!!!
THANKS A MILLION AATISH 🙂
Me and my sis will do everything we can!!
Sure, no problem. Just make sure the company you booked the tickets through are part of STAR. AXS sent me STAR’s details, but not sure if other ticket booking companies are part of STAR.
We bought through AXS, no problem 🙂
Aatish, I’m Adri’s sister and I also would like to thanks for your help!!!
Hi all,
Thought you might like to hear the latest reply I had from Senbla today…
Hi Mike
Thank you for your email.
We apologise for any confusion in the original poster. The shows content has not changed and you will still hear songs from Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, performed back to back.
There will be some additional songs added at the end of the show specifically as an encore as we continue to celebrate Quincy Jones.
You will still also hear and see Quincy talk about the stories behind these songs and albums.
As the shows content has not changed we are therefore not in a position to be offering any refunds.
We hope you enjoy the show
Regards
Senbla
I have challenged this saying that they advertised the three ALBUMS back to back and have asked for them to confirm whether we will hear the full albums as advertised or just select songs. If not then I said they have changed it and that we’ve been missold tickets…
Hi I’ve been stung too and was falsely sold tickets. I’m currently trying to claim a refund through my credit card company. MJ Vibe can you advise us where you obtained the above set list please?
Hi there! We got the set list on May 5 by the organisers.
