Quincy Jones collaborated with iconic artists like Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, and Ray Charles, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry. Among his many achievements, he famously produced Jackson’s record-breaking album Thriller, and he directed the star-studded recording of the 1985 charity single We Are the World. Jones also composed the soundtrack for the British classic The Italian Job (1969), starring Michael Caine.
His publicist, Arnold Robinson, confirmed that Jones passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, surrounded by family. In a heartfelt statement, his family shared: “Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing. While this is an incredible loss, we celebrate his extraordinary life and know there will never be another like him.”
Jones’ seven-decade career brought him 28 Grammy wins out of 80 nominations, establishing him as one of the most awarded musicians of all time. Fans especially treasure his work with Jackson on The Wiz, Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad—creations that forever shaped popular music. Despite the nasty comments and remarks he made about Michael after 2009, we are endlessly grateful for the legacy he built.
Our deepest condolences go out to his friends and family.
