Ok peeps! This is exciting when you see a tweet or a news that a potential new Michael Jackson album is coming.
Some fan websites and twitter accounts have been sharing news that 14 new songs have been registered to ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers).
As we learn with the last few decades, facts and research are essential to our community and I have the bad job to break the hearts of many fans (including mine), that those songs were already on the ASCAP catalogue for years.
The songs claimed to be new are: Be Me 4 A Day, Descending Angel, Endt It, I Have This Dream, Kreeton Overture, Man In Black, Promise, Rememeber This Night, Seven Digits, Shut Up And Dance, Splipped Away, Stay, Veredict and You’re The One.
We do not know if a new Michael Jackson album is in the making and/or coming soon but the truth is that the news about those 14 alleged new songs are actually not new!
As we have been saying for few years now… FACTS MATTER! So make sure you check sources before getting excited (like I did LOL).

What on earth are you talking about? Did you even read the article? No one is discrediting Michael’s talent or humanity – and in case it escaped your notice, this is a Michael Jackson fan site. Have a click about and you’ll see how all the articles CELEBRATE his talent and humanity.
As the article clearly states, fans had spread rumours that a new album was coming and this article speaks about those rumours not being true. That’s it.
And, it is definitely new, if it was unreleased. If you look up these songs, they are on wikipedia as unreleased and there are tons of them. Then, you can find some horrible bootlegged, stolen mixes on you tube, again listed as unreleased. MJ would never have released versions like those because he was a perfectionist. But, I guess to the underground crowd, they aren’t necessarily new. So, there is that side to it, and I can recognize the validity of that side. But personally, I prefer to listen to released songs in MJ’s quality and style, not stolen junk he was working on and unhappy with. It doesn’t do him justice.

These songs are new if a fan has never heard them. I remember songs like Looking Through the Window that some may know nothing about but, as a fan, I know the song because I live through the harmonies on the song. Though we no longer have Mr. Jackson, many of us adoring fans never had him. We knew no more than his music. To me his music is new.

Taquill, maybe you struggled with the title. It clearly says ‘Rumours about a new Michael Jackson album’ because there have been rumours, spread by another fan site. Once you open the article it explains why there is rumours about a new album and what the actual situation is. It wasn’t a complicated article to understand, yet somehow you managed to upset yourself because you didn’t understand what was going on prior to reading the article.
If the songs were previously unreleased or stolen bootlegs, they are new songs, if not officially released. I am a MJ fan and I never heard of them. What I believe is happening is that MJ did vocals on many concept songs and since he was such a perfectionist, the vocals were great. But, the background music was lacking, so MJ didn’t want them released. Some people might have sneaked in and bootlegged them, but they weren’t officially released. Since his passing, producers have revisited those unreleased songs and updated the tracks with better mixes that MJ might have approved of and released them. This idea was touted as the reason for his last posthumous album. Hopefully, this time they won’t use sound alike vocalists to cheat the public school if the vocals weren’t complete. It is always nice to hear “new to me” music from the greatest pop artist of all time, the King Of Pop himself, the late, but still great, Michael Jackson. Even in death, he is still amazing. Long live MJ, even if it’s just in our hearts and minds.
