For weeks now and with Michael Jackson Birthday approaching, rumours on social media have grown dramatically.
Rumour has it that a new album will be announced on the day of Michael Jackson Birthday in Las Vegas directly from the mouth of the Estate and Billboards will be set worldwide with the project.
We all remember the same rumours set by a Brazilian fanclub few years ago which ended up to be untruthful. Do you also remember a document printed on MJJ Inc paper with a track list for a new album? It was proven to have been fabricated by a fan. It is no big deal you will tell me – but it is pretty annoying, especially when those creating the rumours are playing with fans emotions and hope.
Following the last few years, we learned that facts matter and facts should be our only source of direction.
As usual, at MJVibe, we always take any rumours, Social Media posts with a pinch of salt and try to find proof or facts about the situation before sharing with you and this time is no exception!
I was not going to post anything about this ridiculous rumours (and there are so many) but it came to a point that I cannot standby to let fans being disappointed again!
So we looked at the posts and what people have been saying. As any song needs to be registered to BMI Catalogue before release, we looked and…. oh, NOTHING! Nothing is pointing out to a new album, a collaboration song or even a single. No new songs have been registered for new release.
Then we looked at what people are saying: “The Estate will make an announcement in Las Vegas” – John Branca has always made an announcement in Las Vegas on future projects. Do you remember when he said he would like HIStory World Tour to be released? Do you remember when he said they are planning a HIStory25? Do you remember when he announced a Biopic will never happen and then few years later he announced, again in Las Vegas, the Estate is contemplating creating a Biopic? Yes, some of those projects are still in the pipeline of the Estate and one more than the others.
There is also people/fans’ interpretation of subtext in official statements or release documents such as “Rich & Tone Talaeuga will share news about one of the projects that they have been working on in the world of Michael Jackson (in addition to Michael Jackson ONE).” Does this means a new album? of course not! the Talaeuga’s brothers are dancers/choreographers and have nothing to do with music releases. But if you remember, they posted on their instagram before COVID that they were working on Choreographies for the new Estate project: MJ The Musical. Sometimes, it doesn’t need to look too far to find the answers.
Not to mention, the Estate’s musical is a big deal for them and they will put all their efforts to promote this new venture, including having people like the Talaeugas talking about it.
Now, it doesn’t mean that a project will not be announce at MJ ONE this week-end. We know that Spike Lee has been working on his documentary series on Michael Jackson. We had “Off The Wall” and “BAD” and maybe we will get either “Thriller”, “Dangerous” or even “HIStory” documentaries in a near future.
We also know that in the Q&A of the official Michael Jackson Website, HIStory is coming… soon or later:
“…the Estate had plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the HIStory album this year, but because of COVID-19, those plans had to be modified. So, while we still have plans to celebrate HIStory with appropriate audio and audiovisual elements, we don’t believe in making announcements until we are in a position to share all of the relevant details. It is our hope that the world will open up again soon, and allow our creators to finish their work.”
The Estate also expressed their intention to open a Michael Jackson museum… Are they ready to do it?
“Leaving Neverland” and COVID have disturbed a lot of plans for the Estate. They had to review many of them.
So as you see, The Estate has been pretty open to what their intentions are and frankly we do not need speculations on untruthful stories to hype the numbers of followers of few people.
It seems that the only goal of those people bringing rumours to your ears is to gain notoriety and popularity by playing on your emotions and hope to see a new album. I just ask you to take it with caution and do not fall for the rumours. We all know better, especially after the so called documentary created by Dan Reed. Just a bit of research and you will find nothing on a new album.
In a way, I wish I could be proven wrong as I also want a new album!
But it is not all doom and gloom! Michael’s music is playing, his popularity is rebuilding strongly in the general public’s eyes, MJ events are coming back, and who knows, Branca might surprise us this week end and for sure we will let you know as soon as we can!
