Running Marathon as Michael Jackson

On November 7, 2021, Bridget Burns from Canada ran the Los Angeles Marathon dressed as Michael Jackson to fundraise for the McCourt Foundation and to break a Guinness World Record.

She wore a blue sequin military jacket, a white dress shirt, black pants with a white side stripe, a sequin white glove, a vintage Michael Jackson wrist sweatband, white socks, black shoes, a blue plaid necktie, sunglasses and a black Italian Borsalino fedora hat. 

She completed the marathon in a astonishing 5:07:15.

As Bridget is waiting for her results from the Guinness World Record office, this will be her 7th Guinness World Record for “The Fastest Marathon Dressed as”.

Bridget has already 6 Records under her belt:

1. The fastest marathon run by a female dressed as a boxer is 3 hr 52 min 27 sec and was achieved by Bridget Burns (Canada) at the GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 4 May 2014.
2. The fastest marathon dressed as a zookeeper (female) is 4 hr 8 min 17 sec and was achieved by Bridget Burns (Canada) at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 19 October 2014.
3. Fastest half marathon in an animal costume (female) in Toronto 2015. (This record has been broken by another runner).
4. The fastest half marathon in motocross gear (female) is 2 hr 14 min 34 sec and was achieved by Bridget Burns (Canada) at the 2016 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 16 October 2016.
5. The fastest half marathon dressed as a zoo keeper (female) is 2 hr 4 min 46.7 sec, and was achieved by Bridget Burns (Canada) at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 21 October 2018. 
6. Participant in the most virtual runners with virtualrunners.org to complete a 10 km run in 24 hrs on September 19, 2021.

This is not the first time that a person run a marathon as Michael Jackson but no entry to the Guinness World Record was conducted.

The first person who ever ran a marathon dressed as Michael Jackson is Gary Fanelli, an Olympic-level runner from Philadelphia who ran the Toronto Marathon in1984 dressed as Michael Jackson wearing the red leather “Thriller” Jacket costume in a time of 2:30:40.
