You might have seen few articles in the tabloids today about what the Michael Jackson Estate has paid for in 2022. As every year, the Estate has to file their accounts to the court (Tenth Account Current and Report of Status of Administration and petition for settlement thereof) and for those who are interested, here a little breakdown:
As any celebrity that has a star on the Hollywood’s streets, the Estate is paying an annual fee of $2,500 for the restauration and maintenance of the Michael Jackson star to the Hollywood Historic Trust which runs the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
As for the family, the document states $8,257,905.29 has been given to them as a “family allowance.” Another $114,342.26 was spent on maintaining MJ’s famous Hayvenhurst mansion in Los Angeles.
One interesting expense in the estate’s accounting is public relations. Obviously, the Michael Jackson business needs a publicist on hand for the major events including his music. But, in one year, the estate paid out $561,421.83! That’s right, a publicist or PR firm was paid over half a million dollars for his PR.
Katherine Jackson also received nearly $1 million while Paris Jackson spent $750,000 to fix her home during the same year.
The documents also show two properties, Hayvenhurst listed at $4 million and a condo at $315,000, several Rolls Royces, a Bentley, stocks and bonds and personal property worth $12 million.
It also shows how much the Estate is paying for the family lavish life style as a large portion of the bills appear related to parties, DJ Services, cakes, catering, private jets and so on.
From the billings, obviously Paris, Prince and Blanket are in the family allowance as well as Katherine Jackson and TJ Jackson.
Other bills includes storage facilities, lawyers, pool services, consultants, contractors, security and alarm, the Executors of the Estate and staff.
The Estate also donated over $240,000 to various charities: $125,000 to the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, $20,000 to 100 Black Men Of America Inc., $20,000 to the New Orleans Arts & Cultural Committee and $50,000 to Heal Los Angeles Foundation for running “Thriller Night Event”.
