“I respect the secrets and magic of nature. That’s why it makes me so angry when I see these things that are happening, that every second, I hear, the size of a football field is torn down in the Amazon. I mean, that kind of stuff really bothers me. That’s why I write these kinds of songs, you know. It gives some sense of awareness and awakening and hope to people. I love the Planet, I love the trees. I have this thing for trees – the colors and changing of leaves. I love it. I respect those kind of things. I really feel that nature is trying so hard to compensate for man’s mismanagement of the planet. Because the planet is sick, like a fever. If we don’t fix it now, it’s at the point of no return. This is our last chance to fix this problem that we have, where it’s like a runway train. And the times has come, This Is It. People are always saying: ‘They’ll take care of it. The government’ll–Don’t worry, they’ll–‘ ‘They’ who? It starts with us. It’s us. Or else it’ll never be done… We have four years to get it right. After that it would be irreversible. Let’s take care of the planet.”
Michael Jackson, This Is It rehearsals, 2009
This Project is first to honor and commemorate the biggest Entertainer this planet held on the special days of June 25 and August 29.
Every year, we will plant an apple tree. Not only Michael nickname was Apple Head but this is also our way to fight against the deforestation in the Amazon.
This explains the name of this project:
MJ: Michael Jackson.
LIVING: reference to the tree being a living organism.
LEGACY: To carry on Michael Jackson’s legacy to save the world.
We welcome all the fans around the world to plant a tree on June 25th and August 29th of each year. No need to send money! We are not a charity or organisation. We will not send you a certificate (defy the point as paper is made from trees) if you participate. This is up to YOU to make a change! We don’t limit this Project to only Apple Trees! All trees or plants or flowers are welcome!
What do you need to do?
1. On June 25th and/or August 29th, buy a tree or a plant from your local florist.*
2. Plant the tree or the plant or the flower either in your garden, balcony or park**
* please check with your florist what is best to plant at that period of the year. You might need to select a well grown tree or plant to assure the survival. All depend also on where you live in the world.
**you might need to check with your local authorities if you can plant anything in public parks.
That’s it!
Since 2009, we tried to find ways to honor Michael Jackson in the best way possible. We have tried the sky lanterns and paper lanterns and floating lanterns but all this came to a cost to our planet and were all a danger to the environment and animals surrounding us.
With THE MJ LIVING LEGACY PROJECT, NO danger to our planet! NO waste in plants, flowers or paper! NO risk of fire! JUST spreading the life around us!
This is up to US to make a difference! To honor Michael Jackson’s message!
“Neither need you tell me,” said Candide, “that we must take care of our garden.” “You are in the right,” said Pangloss; “for when man was put into the garden of Eden, it was with an intent to dress it: and this proves that man was not born to be idle.” “Work then without disputing,” said Martin; “it is the only way to render life supportable.”
