The longest marathon in TV history is coming Thursday when FXX begins airing every episode ofThe Simpsons since 1989 — that’s 25 seasons spread out over 12 days starting at 10 a.m. Thursday. And for Simpsons diehard Jay Cridlin’s take on the 10 episodes he’ll definitely be taping, click here.

Al Jean, one of the original writers and the showrunner of The Simpsons since 1998, says that he and other writers from the show, former writers and Simpsons guest stars will be adding their commentary on Twitter throughout the marathon, though there are no confirmations about when. @BestSimpsons is the Twitter account reserved especially for the marathon.
Celebrity guests
James Earl Jones was the voice of Maggie Simpson in the “Treehouse of Horror V” in 1994. (Saturday, 4 p.m.)
Michael Jackson appeared in the first episode of Season 3 as a mental patient who pretended to be Michael Jackson. When the episode aired, Jackson was credited as “John Jay Smith,” and it was a few years before it was finally confirmed that it was indeed the Gloved One. (Friday 3:30 a.m.)
In the third episode of Season 22, secretive street artist Bansky famously did a graffiti-laden opening couch gag, followed by an extended and much darker opening sequence that no one was expecting. (Aug. 31, 5 a.m.)
Homer’s half brother, Herbert Powell, was voiced by Danny DeVito, first appearing in the Season 2’s “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?” (Thursday 11:30 p.m.)
Daniel Radcliffe from the Harry Potter franchise spoofed theTwilight franchise on the “Treehouse of Horror XXI” when he played a vampire named Edmund. (Aug. 31, 5:30 a.m.)
In Memoriam
Comedian Rodney Dangerfield, who passed away in 2004, voiced Larry Burns, the son of Charles Montgomery Burns in Season 8 in 1996. (Aug. 24, 4 p.m.)
Before his death in 2003, legendary country singer Johnny Cash voiced a spirit guide in Season 8 who appears as a talking coyote Homer meets in a chili-induced hallucination. Homer called him “Wolfy.” (Aug. 24, 6:30 p.m.)
Before his death in 2008, comedian George Carlin voiced Munchie, Homer’s hippie friend who co-owned Groovy Grove Juice Corp. and first appeared in Season 10’s “D’oh-in’ in the Wind.” (Aug. 25 6 p.m.)

Administrator’s Note: There is an episode called, “Bart the Devil,” (Season 2, episode 8, 1990) that contains the song, “Do The Bartman,” which was written for Bart by Michael and Bryan Loren. Michael did not initially receive credit for the song because of his record contract, but he was later acknowledged by The Simpsons creator Matt Groening during an appearance at the 1998 World Animation Celebration convention.
