Thrillerween has already started in Ohio

With Halloween around the corner, Michael Jackson’s Thriller will be played in Halloween Parties, flash mobs and parades.

And like every year, the town of Wadsworth in Ohio, US, celebrates Halloween in style with “Scare on the Square” and “Wadsworth Thriller”.

This year event took place on Thursday 17 October between 5pm and 8pm and offered a variety of activities, including trick-or-treating at local businesses, music and a performance by the Wadsworth Hexenbrut. The event culminated in the 11th annual Wadsworth Thriller performance, a reenactment of Michael Jackson’s hit “Thriller” music video.

After several weeks of practicing the dance, more than 350 zombie dancers performed the signature dance moves from the music video. Three separate groups of zombies led by a different Michael Jackson came from North Main Street, South Main Street and Broad Street to converge and lead the full group down College Street.

This year had three Michael Jacksons and three Ola Rays:

Michael Jackson was portrayed by

  • Alex McIlvaine, event organizer
  • Gavin Knight
  • Raj Pawar, for his first time

Ola Ray was portrayed by

  • Lori McIlvaine, director of the reenactment
  • Adrianne Patrick
  • Megan Stuart, a first-time Ola, and new director of Northeast Ohio Dance

The event brought hundreds more to downtown Wadsworth to watch the performance.
