In a recent interview for Allure Magazine, Janet Jackson speaks about her most famous videos. From the hair to the costumes, she remembers some details of some of her most iconic videos of her career such as “IF”, “Control”, “Scream” and many more.
She speaks in details about “Together Again” but one story got our attention:
“We shot it in LA and there are a lot of effects on it. I think I had Mike’s Giraffes and Elephants on it. The Funny thing about it is, I think it was the Elephant that Elizabeth [Taylor] has given him,… the funny thing is when we wrapped the shoot, they didn’t want to tell me, but one giraffe has gotten away. Especially it was Mike’s but they got it back”
That’s right! Michael Jackson gave his Elephants and Giraffes to Janet for the video! The video was directed by French photographer Seb Janiak and choreographed by Tina Landon and was thought to be filmed in Tanzania. While some of the shots were filmed in Tanzania, Janet and the famous animals were filmed in Los Angeles.
On “Scream”, Janet talked about her look which was based n Japanese Anime with her hair and make up to reflect that. She also talked about that Mark Romanek, the director of the short film, asked them [Janet and Michael] if he could film the video in Black and White and they both were very happy to do so.
