Kingvention, the first European Michael Jackson convention returns to London in just four months time once again bringing together fans from across arguably one of Michael’s largest fan demographics for a packed day of talks, Q&As,?meet and greets, a screening, a gallery and more.

Naturally, we’re going to be a little bias as we formulate the event but it’s now that formats such as Kingvention, along with all other fan parties and projects are vital to the fan community as we all work effortlessly to keep the legacy going in our parts of the world.

Unfortunately we’ve kind of been left high and dry by the official bodies and unless you have over £1000 to make the trip to Las Vegas to see MJ One and partake in the Estate’s official activities, you’re pretty much left to your own devices. It’s confusing as to why with a renowned global fan base such as Michael’s, few official gatherings are organised outside of Las Vegas and granted, we benefitted from the exhibition at the O2 and Immortal in the early days, we’re now only left to the occasion screening where you have to ‘win’ a ticket to be included, and that’s only if you’re lucky enough to be in a participating country!

When we came up with the idea for Kingvention, our goal was to create a gathering where fans could lose themselves for the day in everything Michael Jackson. We wanted to stories to be shared, pictures to be enjoy, friendships to be formed and memories to be made and by and large, at the first Kingvention in 2015, that was achieved. We wanted to take all the format that fans have enjoyed from other events and roll them in to one. Truly offering something for everybody. When you see the likes of Comic Book Conventions and Disney’s D23 growing and becoming more exciting year on year, we thought, Michael needs this….his fans need this.
And it’s been a challenge! At times we were uncertain as to whether we could make it work, but the results of last year proved otherwise and here we are again.

This year we’re marking 25 years of Dangerous which was a no-brainier when deciding which aspect of Michael’s career to celebrate. The trilogy of Off the Wall/Thriller/Bad receive continued attention from the media and the Estate alike, but Dangerous and later albums are often disregarded. Dangerous has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and produced 9 singles including the global unity songs Black or White and Heal the World. Achievements such as that should be celebrated and that’s exactly what we intend to do on September 10th in London.

Of course Kingvention isn’t just limited to Dangerous, we’ve got some cool exhibits, a gallery and last year’s favourite, the evening celebration. Plus a live choir and numerous photo opportunities. In addition, every ticket holder is automatically entered in to a prize draw where you can win official merchandise, tickets to Madame Tussaud’s and Ripley’s Museum and more.
It’s about bringing people together to celebrate the King of Pop and when you walk through those doors at the Park Plaza Victoria, hopefully we’ll have delivered an event fit for a King, an event we think Michael Jackson deserves.
